North Korean literature exists but it is state-issued (they don't have a capitalist market) and none of it will be translated because the Western world doesn't actually care about Korean people, they just want pity-porn to use for self-aggrandizing. Which is exactly why the only Korean -- RK, DPRK, and Diaspora -- authors that reach best-seller status in Western countries are "defectors", generally pretty young women, from North. Which is also why, although you don't hear about it, the majority of defectors express the desire to return to the DPRK but are prevented from returning.
