>pay a visit to /diy/ for the first time because i have horrible practical skills in real life
>legitimately can't understand 75% of their lingo, not even through inferred meaning. all the supposed common objects are foreign to me
>a few threads dedicated to complaining about the one idiot at their job or workplace horror stories
>can't really figure out what could be so wrong with the ''dumbasses'' actions and why they're mocking them
>realize that i would have done the exact same mistakes had i been in their position without having a single clue why i'd get berated
>numerous posts making fun of wrenchlets and their ilk calling them embarrassment to the human race
>whenever i try to help the older folks of the town with any sort of hands-on work, i end up causing a disaster
>mfw i wouldn't be able to take care of my own home
>mfw i'm not a man
Surely there must be a sea of effective and helpful /lit/erature dedicated to supporting limp-wristed scrubs in their journey to manhood? Books that would cover most of the necessary basics in regards to practical activities and being handy in general. They should hold more importance than your random phenomenology book, since they directly affect your quality of life and your status as a respectable human being. For example, i remember the car mechanics guidebooks dedicated to specific chassis lying around wherever back in the day. Stuff like that would be greatly appreciated.
Let's help each other out and post the truly good books, anons.

Few things are more painful than realizing that it's already been 6 years since 2016. The Idleness is real. Will it ever be possible to finally put this thing in gear and get going without stalling? Is it reasonable to think about the concept of ''catching up'' already at age 21? I tried to read Proust but i get an inkling that i am not yet ready to process the harrowing nuances concerning the theme of time passing by you, which I know is inevitable, but there's obvious degrees to that.
Still, i'm here on 4channel. Still caught in that tar pit.

How do you channel the dregs lurking in the doldrums of your soul into creative efforts, more specifically writing? I cannot move underwater, and i'd like to know how these great, raw writers managed to swim so gracefully in the abyss and bleed it out onto those pages. If there's any particular rituals, good exercises, habits to cut...etc in order to be better equipped to seize those moments of intense melancholy and turn them into something productive instead of just vegetating like a piece of shit, i think the whole board would like to know about them. Maybe it's a matter of being fried from too many distractions nowadays, i don't know.

it's obviously not an absolute condemnation of all comedy/humor as this inane, ugly thing ; that's just stupid. it's a matter of excess, as it with almost every single issue in this day and age. what the movie in the op does is shed light on those who turn one of the most human aspects of communication into this cancerous black hole because they, and their lives in general, are so hollow. have you never felt that a certain overbearing 'need' to be snarky all the time amongst your local suburban 40 year old upper middle class suv driving neighbor with jokes that nobody really finds funny but people laugh with despite that fact because it's a necessity to them is a fascinating example of emptiness to witness? there's even a french expression for it, le rire jaune. you don't think that the abhorrent banter between your morning news anchors on usa today should be seen as an anomaly instead of just being accepted as the right thing?
i'm with >>19695228 on everything he said, it's just that there is a clear imbalance on that front that keeps spreading like wildfire on the net especially, where it's easier than ever to feign laughter and therefore really damage the point of comedy itself. to be consistently funny is a sign of brilliance, and water is wet, but what about insisting on jokes that you and the receiving party know aren't funny, but keep repeating anyway?

i hope i can gather the resources to take on a dakar rally or a similar type of rally-raid exercise someday, preferably with a truck. i think it's one of the most /lit/ experiences a man can have today.
does /lit/ appreciate rallying?

does anyone here know anything on how to become a professional and accredited ocularist? i googled around and it's all so vague. it might beat being a NEET so i'm curious about it, with it being a niche job it won't be too hard to find work once you've got the right papers. or maybe (probably) i'm just being led astray by fantasies again.

My attention span is completely fucked. I can barely read ten pages a day, and even then, the content within them slips by me very easily Contrary to the usual stereotype, i don't spend my time playing video games or watching garbage on youtube either, because i cant even concentrate on those activities for long, eventuallly feeling an intense need to switch to something else while also being haunted by guilt. I'm mosty staring into space.
Please help me out bros. I don't want to miss out on all these wonderful books and be another empty shell. How can i learn to absorb things properly again if it's even possible?

Please, are there any great novels centered around the wish to be saved from yourself, or at least a cry to get away from who you are? Something that isn't adolescent in its treatment of this theme. The usual existentialist novels have left me somewhat yearning for more.

Are there any substantial books that can help me understand how i've been so lucky and fortunate in life? I really don't understand how, despite all my fuck ups, things have been going well for so long. Perplexes me immensely.
