Can rec some Christian existentialism, but can't help mysticism. To bump though, why mysticism?

Asceticism I get, here are a few that got me going in that direction

-Confessions- St. Auggy
-City of God- St. Auggy
-The Sickness Unto Death- K-Rock
-Fear and Trembling- K-Rock (Further into K-Rock will give you 9.5/10 existentialist viewpoints but not really ascetic.)

Now for some you haven't heard 10 times before.
-Narcissus and Goldmund - Hershey Hess Truck
-Steppenwolf- Hershal Hezbollah
-Siddartha- Hermaeus Mora

In Narcissus and Goldmund specifically he draws, what I find to be, an artificial dichotomy between ascetic valuation and aesthetic valuation. Contrasting these modes gives better understanding of both. In the end, Herman Hesse generally lands on the side of the aesthetic; what he fails to realize is that every aesthetic aspect that he values and that is not transitory is itself a part of the ascetic.

Is irony a skill that can be learned like any other?

Also, was Churchill right about courage?

"Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend."

I'm an engineering student and I enjoy reading very much. I remember I enjoyed writing aswell when I had the chance in highschool, but I never did any creative writing. Currently wondering about trying to go at it but I don't want to do a shitty attempt.

What are some tips to someone not related to the Humanities in order to start writing?

Sorry if my english sounds crude but I am not a native speaker.
