I'm not one for genrefagging too much so I don't know if this counts as gothic, but I like this and Dorian Gray for similar reasons.

The Book was a really interesting read. As a person, who is more visually inclined (like most people), it was fascinating, seeing the author use my sense of smell to paint a scenery. I consumed this book in two days and kinda felt disgusted with my self and the world considering the context of the book.

If you read this book, did you also smell the scenes?

If your looking for something unique but also very kino check out Perfume, I read it first my sophomore year of highschool and recently read it again and remembered how fucking good it is. I guarantee you have never read anything like it

I've finished yesterday "Perfume" by Süskind, my first book of 2021. I've got a few question about it (no need to answer all three)
1) Do you think it deserve its incredible success? I mean, is seems that everyone has read this book where I live.
2) Was Grenouille hyper autistic or something? One of the weirdest protagonist I've ever seen
3)Does this book have a somewhat "deep" metaphorical meaning? I mean if the smell thing rapresents soul, or something abstract, and if Grenouille is some kind of representation of Christ who gets "consumated" at the end
