ra·tion·al·ism
noun
a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response.

>i am a rationalist, so i believe that being rational is the most rational thing to believe in, and if you disagree, you are irrational, which is irrational, hence i believe in being right, and my circular logic proves this

has this ever made sense?

Sam Harris has no philosophical education. Whatever education he has in the terms he throws around would amount to no more than what you would get from browsing Reddit for a few months.

He has no idea what rationalism is except that he thinks rationalism equals smart and good. Why? "Because all good decisions are based on rationality." How does he know that? "Because you don't want your call mechanic to consult a crystal ball." *cue audience cheer*

He's a soundboard of Redditisms.
