I'm in a book club with some friends from high school and it's coming up on my turn to pick the next book. What are some great books to read and discuss that aren't too long or complicated? We read a farewell to arms and that was a big hit. Of books I own but haven't read yet i was thinking steppenwolf, waiting for the barbarians, maybe Herzog but it's long, maybe suttree but I think McCarthy's prose might be a little much for some people. Something with a bit of action to keep people from getting bored, although we read the tao te ching and had a good time talking about our interpretations of random poems
