I can go back to actual avatarposting if you would like me to. I just (god forbid!) want to discuss books I enjoy--unfortunately they do not align with the thread meta of popularity and special selection only.

The name of the first book and a few chapters were emailed out. Sounds like a generic fucking name so I didn't bother. I've also lost about all of my Sanderson interest since reading Rhythm of War with you fags.
What a shitshow.

I'm finally reading the Elder Empire series but I'm only 25% through the first Calder book. Anyone else read it? I haven't seen it mentioned much on the archives.
I'm also reading Methods: The Detective Competition which is a VN but the only 'gameplay' elements are literally pointing-and-clicking. There is a good amount of textual content spread across 100 chapters.

We're one chapter away from Chapter 1000 of One Piece, the most popular global manga and the third most popular illustrated comic. There is no better time than now to get caught up. Surely another doorstopper isn't a problem to you, /sffg/?

So 105-110 is the 'big scene'? I'm coming up to it. I'm at ch.99 and I know I'm due an end-of-novel clusterfuck at any time but it feels like so much more needs to be wrapped up, eh. I've accidentally some spoilers and think I figured out some things but I'm hoping I'm wrong (or even right due to implications, who knows.)
Parts 3 and 4 stretched far too long. Navani is humble but lacking in any common sense (like any richfag, amirite?). Eshonai flashbacks get skipped and Venli is fucking boring.
Kaladin inventing psychology was cool.
And, as always, for four books running so far, FUCK SHALLAN

I finished Rage of Dragons. It was fun seeing Tau shit on people in the last half but it took too long for the book to become interesting. I thought it was overall a mundane setting and atmosphere (military melee warfare shenanigans #587320532753) but I guess I'll read the second book when it's out. I feel like the overall background plot needs to go somewhere, it has to be more than just us vs them genocide like there's some weird key element missing. I did notice an offhand mention of how the Youngling was not a dragon of the type that normally answer summons(?) but it didn't go anywhere aside from being another lie on the side of the Omehi--in order to fool the dragons further, I suppose.

I read nearly every mainline Dragonlance trilogy early last year at 28 for the first time. Even that weird one by Jean whatever that I suppose isn't technically mainline but Wiki kind of lists it as so, anyway it was out of place.
They are VERY FUCKING GOOD HOLY SHIT I WAS SURPRISED WHY DID I NOT READ THESE AS A KID
People act as if the first trilogy and War of the Twins are all that exist.

I completed The Iron Dragon's Daughter and much of the book, especially the ending, made little to no sense.
For SOME reason, I am now reading Dragons of Babel which takes place in the same world.
I will post this in the next thread in the hopes that I can discuss science-fiction and fantasy literature in the science-fiction-and-fantasy general thread.

I'm copying my kinda review of the last book I read for anyone who reads books and doesn't circlejerk on discord like an underage newfag:

>reading this self-published amazon trash but it has some good moments
>generic peasant MC who accidentally magic
>MC is 13
>mentor dude gives no fucks
>2nd or 3rd time they meet (I think when MC is leaving to live with teacher), straight up tells 13yo MC to literally shut the fuck up
>insults MC all the time but likes it when MC insults back
>mentor lives innawoods and the Mysterious Being that protects his house (owns it basically) takes the form of a cat that the mentor (and then the MC) literally calls the goddamn cat
there's a part where the MC rescues his mom and brings her there for safety. The mom is describing it and asking about it. MC goes, "oh that's the goddamn cat!" instrinctively and his mom yells at him for it.
lel
just any time it's brought up it makes me laff
>what's his name?
>grandfather always called him the goddamn cat. said he seems to like it

>grandfather (mentor dude) talks mad shit to this fae lord in the fae realm
>"well I'll kill <MC>!"
>yeah I don't give a fuck, do it and you know I'll still rip you apart piece by piece
>spooks him into not doing shit
BOO BITCH
mentor dude talks mad shit about all the magic users of the current era and how he'll make MC into a giganigga, i love it

I'm 6 or so chapters into book 2, already looking forward to Will ramming his unlubricated sword up Generic School Bully Dennis's ass

>author is writing like 4 other series too and wants to meta it all together

>random asks for some advice on playing the class/spec I'm playing
>tell him some basic tips then log off because I feel like playing another game
>feel like a xianxia protag giving out a bit of guidance to a lower cutivator then forever fucking off
I'm on the last chapter of Desolate Era AAAAAAAAAAAA been reading Doctor Who books and now reading City at the End of Time. It reminds me of In Other Worlds by A.A. Attanasio.
