I'll be reading this shortly. About halfway through the first book.

When does it start to get good?

Gene Wolfe re-kindled my love for reading. My attention span is shot and have a hard time focusing on any one thing to completion. This is the best shit I've ever read though.

I am about to start this. Why is it considered one a "new sci-fi classic" and should I even bother reading it?

I don't get it.

Book of the New Sun is the cover I object to the most strongly. This would be my choice, although for some reason Wolfe always gets the worst fucking covers.

Not political science or history, but since he is a lawyer he is used to reading inscrutable texts and might enjoy this.

I finished Book of the New Sun yesterday and I could use some help figuring out some of the background lore, especially things related to the previous stellar empire.

As far as I understood it, humanity, having removed part of their humanity, ruled over a giant interstellar empire with the help of machines they had made (androids such as Jonas, but also non-humanoid computers and AI). Eventually, their humanity was somehow returned to them by said AIs, throwing mankind into confusion and sending their interstellar empire tumbling down. However, I feel like my understanding of the events might not be correct.

Additionally, there's the tale of the boy called Frog, which seems to be an analogy to Romulus and Remus, but at the same time the tale of how humanity conquered the stars.

If anyone else has a better understanding of the lore I'd be happy to listen to a better explanation.

So Ive pretty much failed at reading this, I enjoyed some parts but im new to reading and I think a majority of the book flew over my head,

I tend to hit and miss with books found in the sticky with some being to dense for a pleb like me to follow and reading through a book like this with out grasping it all feels like I wasted a good book that I should have saved for when im better read.

So whats a good entry level series of fantasy or sifi that i should try?

So I finished the New sun books some months ago, this weekend I felt like reading some sci fic again, so I was thinking what should I read next. Long sun or short sun? What about The Urth of the New Sun?

So, I've finished the "tetratogy" today and I don't know that to think.
People told me this would be great and it wasn't.
So, either I've been trolled or A LOT went over my head.
Since I'm not really good at symbolism and >implyings, I want /lit/ to enlighten me.
What the fuck have I just read? Is there a good wiki or something explaining what's behind all this?

I'm 80 pages into pic related and so far I'm not really enjoying it. Some passages are alright, but this book is so hyped.
