Consider that in Washington and Arizona the feds own the forests. Whereas in New York the state owns the forests. Good chance you'll start a career near your education. Much comfier and less bureaucratic, as well as more attainable, to land a state forestry position. At NAU or UW you will likely have to compete for a much more competitive fed spot.
