After Postmodernism is Neomedievalism. Get fucking hyped.

Let's have a brief thread about Medieval philosophy/theology.

Obviously the big guns of the period are Aquinas, Duns Scotus, Albertus Magnus, and maybe Anselm. At this point everybody knows most of them. What are some of your other favorite Medieval thinkers, /lit/?

I've got a soft spot for Bonaventure. Though he's called a Scholastic, he's actually much more influenced by Augustine and his Platonism; being more of a Platonist myself, this makes him a favorite of mine. I love his "Journey of the Mind to God."

The ultimate question is whether women have a share of apostolic succession. The objection has always been that the Apostles were all men, and thus priests should be men. However, it was a great tradition of the early Church to hold Mary Magdalene on the same level as the Apostles. Gregory the Great famously called her "the Apostle to the Apostles." Her sister Martha also deserves consideration.

This, plus the fact that there were female priests and bishops in the early Church (Paul writes about a number of them) makes me comfortable with female priests. In fact, I'm more in favor of female priests than I am in favor of married priests.

Neomedievalism

This quiz just fucking lied to me. I said I agreed with evolutionary theory, but then I answered the question after that and now it's accusing me of disagreeing with evolutionary theory.

Regardless, this quiz is a load of shit because it discounts divine revelation. We know about God because God has told us some things about what he's like. Our communication with the divine isn't a one way street.

Fucking Modernists, I swear to Christ.
