There was this reference I really liked in Inherent Vice, a plane was being boarded by a couple of characters called Laszlo and Ilse. I thought this was from GR, but really it's a reference to some old film.

See picture, although I haven't added The Instructions by Adam Levin. Almost all of those are 1,000 pagers, although a few are 800 or 900 pages.

I'm actually surprized /lit/ doesn't have a greater emphasis on reading doorstoppers. We all know how much people here love talking about the number of books they've read, how hard their books are, how obscure their books are, etc, so you would've thought they would.

These are the doorstoppers I've read, anything over 800 pages. We should make a proper picture though, that one in the OP's picture is horrible. Where are all the modern works? And why are the books divided into two groups?

The picture is all the epics, i.e. 800+ page books, I've ever read. What's next, friends? I would prefer a fairly modern book, about the last 40 years, but old is alright too. Please provide brief descriptions.
