Recently picked up Murakami`s "Dance, Dance, Dance", and found out that it`s 4th book in the series. Should I go read all the previous ones, or I won`t miss much?

I'm trying to remember a book I read by Murakami, which one was it?

It's time for another thread on the greatest author of the 21st century, Haruki Murakami. In Murakami's Beatles-influenced fiction (think Helter Skelter) he explicates how we are moving backwards in time, and how this "reversal of history" is more akin to being swept back into the analogous and correspondent instantaneity of circular time, mythology, reincarnation, and a new love affair and bond with the stars.

Also the two MCs are kind of samey. Classical/jazz snob, ultra doormat about being cheated on, etc. Is he really the best Japan could offer?

Just read TV People by Murakami. Anyone on /lit/ have an idea what it the story was supposed to mean? All explanations about it online make no sense to me.
