Darkness at Noon

I wrote a story for a similar assignment about a Civil War era slave who, when about to be whipped for something minor by a badass slavemaster character, vanishes in a giant blue explosion, all thats left is a pile of ash. Rest of the story was sort of like a tall-tale about rumors of a ghostly slave with blue lightning powers who showed up around the South disrupting supply lines and what not.
