own /fitlit/ theory incoming:
after experimenting with pomodoro, deep work, spaced repetition and what not i can only say that intensity distribution over the week is more important than micromanaging daily routine. one should arrange daily load like a triathlete plans his training, with a 3:1 ratio of soft vs hard days (meaning 75% vs 100% effort in duration and difficulty). this prevents burnout while slowly increasing general work capacity, from over-adjustment during recovery. the two cardinal mistakes are: trying to do too much everyday, but also not pushing boundary regularly.
bonus of this plan is that the soft days feel almost like a real break after a hard day, so there's no need for actual off-days.
