I'm starting my PhD program next month. I am from Scandinavia. I'm excited, but also worried. This board seems to have some academics; can you share your experience(s)? I'll be doing a regular sort of literature PhD (nobody cares about the specifics), and I do feel like there are so many things I don't know.

I tried for years to get a position, and now that it happened I feel almost lost.

Any of you people doing a PhD? I'm starting the program in a few months, and I'm getting anxious. I do read a fair bit and did very well at uni, but when I listen to professors, and read academic papers, I feel light years away, and infinitely dumber. It will be a grind for me.

What, they're making a movie? The 2nd and 3rd books were meh, but Annihilation was fucking incredible. Super mysterious, tense and very clever. I have very fond memories of that book. I can't wait to see how they'll fucking ruin it in an adaptation.
