Communism, or rather the way to achieve it, was always totalitarian in design.

It's in the very nature of its purpose. If the state controls all economic modes of production, it will eventually affect the totality of your life. That goes from whatever goyslop you consume in the morning newspaper to wiping your ass with your favorite toilet paper. These are all things that are directly linked to certain economic decisions.

The question should rather be: How could it not go to totalitarianism? But the answer is: It always will.
