Had a dive for suicide with out drugs. It sucked, can't see people actually wanting that hell. As for fun there are lots of alternatives (like reading and writing).

I am well aware of the problems with how vague the word drug is. And have even had read in detail of how water can be labeled a drug. I typically don't consider sugar a drug. But about twice a year when I am really depressed I down a whole bag of Reese's pieces and a 12 oz Dr.Pepper and get buzzed for half an hour then crash for the next 4 hours. I feel bad because when I do that I consider I have used sugar as a drug, but nobody seems the least concerned when I complain about my reckless behavior. In fact some people I know eat that kind of stuff daily with no visible effect, till they try to cut sugar down and hit bad withdrawal.

As for the harm in occasional abuse we need to agree on some metrics. I say if it alters your state of mind even for short durations or can cause permanent changes to your body over use then it is a drug and should be avoided. However sugar and water clearly do that, so we need to better define what changes are "normal" and what state of mind is "acceptable". For that I look at changes in life expectancy to better define "normal" as I see a longer healthier life within reason as desirable, and performing complex tasks like operating a motor vehicle or passing tests for gauging an "acceptable" state of mind. This is why while I don't like alcohol or tetrahydrocannabinol or others I do accept them in limited use for people over 25 and in proper medical and industrial application. That being said there are significant dosage issues, many people use dosages much higher my expanded limits. I have seem even the "safe" drugs (including weed) destroy lives slowly over time, so I have a firm stance on dosage limits.

One can satisfy a lack in countless ways, trust me I have had serious lacking in my life. With me it is engineering things, hanging out with friends and occasionally writing. Everyone is different, but there are some things that just don't work drugs and street fight are two that come to mind.

The seems to be medicinal for you. I would document it all carefully and see if you can find a doctor to help you without freaking out that you take weed.
I know I talked with my doctor and now take a dosage of B3 for my depression rather then the typical prescription anti-depressants (I buy the nicer time release ones to prevent Niacin flashing). There is a concern that it will hurt my liver over time, but so far tests have shown my liver and over all health has improved. Which suggests it was mostly just a chemical imbalance in my brain and more B3 fixed it, likely have a poor absorption rate from my genetics. Another part was a strong irrational urge to win my fathers approval, accepting that and moving on was very big for me, but also very hard.
