The best most praised anime and manga out there barely get close to the most middling of young adult fiction novels in terms of substance.

I don't know shit about poetry. Where can I begin?

The only poem I've ever read is The Raven and I liked it a lot. However I've come to appreciate "good written" prose like Fitzgerald or even Will Durant in non-fiction. I want to ream more stuff like this, so I suppose poetry would be the logical next step.

Also, I'm ESL and I'm doing this partly because I like to read books out loud to improve my accent and diction. Don't know if it helps.

Thanks for any recommendation.
