Well I know it's possible because I did it. I could read the Cataline orations and Seneca letters comfortably with like 12 months of study, although I'm an autistically obsessive NEET and had a friend who is doing a PHD in classics help me, so that might have had something to do with it. I agree that being able to comfortably read Greek after a year of study is unrealistic but honestly, anything's possible if you're dedicated enough.
