It's not the friendship ending that hurt me. They come and go and I've been used to it for a while. She was a nice girl and I hope she's doing well in life rn. It's the fact that ever since I've never been as close to a woman as I was to her. That was about the time I developed a porn addiction and just now have I really been able to break somewhat free from it. It was during this time that I really associated love and lust with each other and I starting hating both, even though I was more than willing to give in to my lustful desires, yet whenever I had a crush on a girl, I would make sure to run away from her, not just because I felt inadequate, but also because I really felt like I only saw her as an object. Thus I've basically have been only been hanging out with male friends because I'm not attracted to them romantically so these feelings of guilt and self-hatred never pop up. It's really just within this quarantine period that I have realized how foolish I've been. I've messed up my brain so much, I'm not even sure if I can love properly at this point. I just want to do some sort of penance for not just me, but the women I've wronged by reducing them to just tools for my selfish self-gratification.

It's like the ancients were onto something when they said sex should be restrained within the context of marriage (i.e. between a man and a woman. Anything else is just extravagant sexually deviant behavior) for the solely purposes of procreation AND for fueling the love between spouses. I doubt they had to deal with women like this and incels since they knew the proper place sex has in society. Inb4 "muh christcuk" nonsense. Even Aristotle and Musonius Rufus, two pagan philosophers (one pre-Christian and the other who lived in an era where Christians were a minority) literally spouted this maxim because it's fucking right: fucking any and everything like an animal is degenerate, not because sex is bad but because it not only ignores the true final end of sex, but it also is mindless, base and opposed to our faculty of human reason when abused in that manner . /sperg

I've never dated a girl and I'm 24. The last girl I was even emotionally close too was in middle school. Ever since, I've just avoided them out of habit unless I have to work with them and even then I just keep it formal and cordial. I'm trying to look for women in my Catholic diocese but I realize that just because I'm booksmart doesn't mean I can translate that to attractive personality traits (I'm also black so that doesn't help any) and the pious, intelligent girl I'm going after (while not uncommon in the place I'm looking for them) is just unrealistically out of my league. I might just become a priest and just put one of my gifts to good use, since I am a fan of Classical and Medieval Philosophy (despite being a Math grad student). I feel like God is expecting me to be happy and have hope in a situation where there's no hope to be found rationally. I have honestly given up hope of being happy in this life and I hope at least I can do His work and grin and bear it. I feel like I was dealt a great hand for intellectual matters but in terms of the heart, I have the shittiest hand possible.

After Virtue and Aristotle's Revenge: The Metaphysical Foundations of Physical and Biological Science. I've just started both of them, but so far they do have very interesting foundational arguments about how the modern world has abandoned classical wisdom about the sciences and the world in general in two different spheres of epistemology. I like them.
