Is it worth reading? I get the feeling it’s going to be nothing but discount Blade Runner.

Should I just stop reading science fiction if I didn't enjoy this?

i can see how the over the top violence would deter a reader but for me the character of the judge as well as the vivid descriptions. THIS SHIT on the other hand was pure garbage. other than that /lit/ recs have treated me well.

Is op ok?

Started this today, read the first chapter. The way he writes gives me a bit of a headache, but i am really impressed by the picture he paints considering this was PUBLISHED in 1984. He was probably coming up with the ideas for this in the late 70s based on his early work. Personally, i don't find more modern examples of science fiction (and that isn't counting things like star wars or whatever normies consider) as compelling as reading older works from a modern perspective, especially considering how the Internet changed public perceptions on technology and what is possible. I mean, just imagining the world at the time some of these works are written and the ideas they come up with that we take for granted now really boggles my mind. That's why i liked "We" so much, because even though it was written so long ago, the ideas presented in it seem so tangible and "forward thinking" to me. Long tangent for me to simply say "I'm really looking forward to reading more of this," but i just wanted to share a quick thought I'm having while I take a shit lol.

ITT post series or novels you think most likely portray the most likely future. I'm gonna go with the Sprawl trilogy by William Gibson

Now I know where Ghost in the Shell got it's incomprehensible technobabble and virtual reality visuals from.

Good read though, I liked it more the more I kept reading.

So...
Is it normal to read Neuromancer beginning to end and have absolute no idea what the fuck happened at pretty much any point?
I mean I can follow a Cormac McCarthy book just fine even with the bizarre prose and lack of punctuation, but I tried to give Neuromancer a go and shit just seems to jump from one scene to the next without anything connecting them and eventually I had no idea what was going on.
