I think that to a certain degree we see this trend within almost any sort of human organization though. There's a tendency, perhaps within hierarchical structures specifically, for this to be the case. "Being a corporeal extension of X identity" is basically always validated by whatever overarching structure created X identity - be it upon a corporate drone or a loyal soldier or a cult member - it functions the same way and is basically always rewarded within the organization - making it a pernicious kind of mindset to try to get away from, in that in order to do so it essentially requires an escape (exit) from this exceptionally common human organizational structuring.
