Just finished this. Great book, I found myself laughing out loud at parts and hoping other parts would just be done with. It took real strength to read the music review chapters and I had to skip over some of the violence due to the awful feelings it gave me. If I liked this book and want something similar are there any recommendations?

I enjoy it a lot, the movie is one of my favs. I kinda wish the movie really showed Batemen's obsessive habit of memorizing clothing pieces and brands. The movie only shows the neurotic obsessiveness in the business card scene which is really not even close. The book I read before this was Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, classic Cyberpunk novel that really has almost nothing in common with the blade runner movies (They are amazing nonetheless)

Did anyone else get filtered by pic related? I didn’t even get to the violent parts because I got tired of reading shit like multiple paragraph descriptions of people’s outfits. I think that just the description of Patrick’s apartment was like 3+ pages

Not sure why. There are other books with better stories and written better. This one just struck me as amazing when I first read it.

More novels about rich people being fucked up, hedonistic or nihilistic. Preferably if it's about young rich people, like Less Than Zero

American Psycho. So far, enthralled. There are clearly some stylistic devices I've seen from Dostoyevsky.

I've finished this damb ass book and I can't make anything out of the ending.

I think I understand the "This is not an exit" at Harry's, telling us there is no "end" to the story, but did he kill, maul, mutilate, etc.? Or was it all in his mind? Does all of this even matter?

Let us discuss, men
