Say, /sffg/, I was wondering if there's a book that's like this?

>a grown man has grown disillusioned of his stagnant lifestyle
>he discovers a magical world filled with mystical creatures, magic, and adventure a-plenty and maybe a romance
>obligations of his life begin to creep in somehow and he's forced to whether or not to give in to his escapist fantasy or go back to his life

Is a book like this out there or has it already been in another medium? Wouldn't be surprised if an anime covered something like it.
