YOU CAN'T REFUTE THIS BOOK YOU STUPID LOSERS AYN RAND IS THE BEST PHILOSOPHER IF YOU DISAGREE YOU ARE A STUPID VIRGIN SCREW YOU LOSER AYN RAND THE BEST BECAUSE SHE WAS THE FIRST PHILOSOPHER TO POINT OUT THAT ALTRUISM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WARFARE TODAY. THE OTHER PHILOSOPHERS THAT ARE NOT AS GOOD AS AYN RAND BUT BETTER THAN THE REST ARE LEONARD PEIKOFF, HARRY BINSWANGER, YARON BROOK, ONKAR GHATE.

You probably won't find an actual critique of Rand on this forum. Most of the minor criticisms I've read on here have been superficial and from an individual who did not read her books. I recall on one occasion hearing Sam Harris completely misrepresent her beliefs.

If I was to tell you how to learn about this author (I am assuming that you don't know currently), I would not advising reading Atlas Shrugged. I would listen to a talk regarding her by any of her scholars, such as Yaron Brook, Onkhar Ghate, Leonard Peikoff, Tara Smith, or any other. Then consider either reading the Virtue of Selfishness or Fountainhead. Once having read this, then read Atlas Shrugged.

Is it worth rereading Atlas Shrugged? I understood none of it the first time. I just went through it. I read 75 pages a day for two weeks.

I read Fountainhead as well; I thought it was enjoyable. Then I researched Rand's ideology. Now that I've just turned 19, I'm rereading it and I'm realizing how much depth I skimmed over.

I'm starting to see how truly weak the people around me are. They live for the sake of others. They have no sense of values. They seek weak women because they are weak inside. They jump at any opportunity to exploit others and are vile. They use charisma as opposed to competence. They laud altruism but act like unbridled brutes.

I can not tell you how different I see people today. They are all suffering sheep that need a purpose in their lives; what they need is objectivism.

Read Ayn Rand. She was a long-term hedonist, although she herself denied being a hedonist.

Her idea was that the purpose of life is to achieve happiness; this is done through productive work.

"she defends reason as being a necessity for human life but does not imply that reasoning being a necessity for existence means that man has human rights because of him having reason."

I'm trying to bridge this gap

Hello /lit/.

Throughout my years, I have had a desire to be within the female presence. Recently, I have abandoned this desire, seeing as love is irrational, yet I still have a certain amount of respect towards the female body. When I see it, I gain a certain feeling of satisfaction, as if it is something to be desired. Is it possible to remove of this impulse in its entirety?

I have no motivation to engage in "fap" or to have friends yet I get upset by the presence or mention of the female for I cannot have her yet I simultaneously know that I would have preferred to have her. It has only been that I've been denied to such a degree entrance to such a creature that I've come to see isolation as preferable, as if the female is an alien that I mustn't intrude upon, as if she is an animal within the wild of whom I mustn't muster.

Which readings could most sufficiently allow me to reduce the natural aura that females emit? I am aware that their physical appearance gives them an artificial sense of worth, a disguise for their lack of value.

Ayn Rand worked 35 hours a week and took 13 years I believe to write Atlas Shrugged. She worked as a waitress and other odd jobs. She came home every day and cried.

You can do it.

How much do I have to read to have a justified ego, to consider myself a patrician?

I'm reading Plato right now (starting with the Greeks) and have read Ayn Rand in detail. I'm planning to read the rest of the Greeks (not all; just maybe 5 more books this summer) and then starting to read books that I would enjoy.
Before summer, I'll try to read the Social Contract and maybe another history book.

In chapter 9, Holden observes a man squirting liquid on a female's face while in his hotel. What is meant by this? Is it what I think it is or am I just disturbed? I've been reading the analysis and these people just think that it's water or alcohol.
