And yes, DFW is absolutely correct here. American Psycho is infantile. It's pop-literature meant to be easily consumed and just as easily forgotten. I guarantee you nobody would be talking about American Psycho in 2022 if Christian Bale hadn't done a fantastically meme-able rendition of Patrick Bateman in the film.
