Any actually good books on self improvement?

Sure, you can say it's futile to try to get it through their thick skull. But I'd much rather managed to get through 1 in 100 anons than none at all. I've lived my life seeing people not much different than anons here. Hopeless, miserable and done right right lazy too. But I've also seen others who've managed to change their lives for the better. They may not say it but I believe and want to believe that they change for the better.

If it's one thing I've seen time and time again is that people know what they need to do most of the time. All they need is a little nudge. The moment they're true to themselves, stop making excuses and lies to themselves they'll realize they're more capable than they seem. It can be tiring to explain again and again but I try not to get tired of it.

The herculean task for people these is not so much as fighting the world but having to fight themselves.

What are some novels where our hero tries his harder to get a gf so he can end his chronic loneliness but fails miserably

The Odyssey. The Illiad has more exciting fight scenes but there were so many characters that I often got really bored reading through all the descriptions. For me the Iliad felt really stop and go in terms of my enjoyment. The Odyssey with it's tighter focus and smooth narrative was really enjoyable. I also loved the great sense of adventure with the heart pulling moments like him seeing his dog who waited so long for his master, then you have then ending when he deals out justice to both the suitors and the thots who schemed against his wife was so cathartic.

Also at the risk of a faggy blogpost it felt really inspiring to me seeing Odysseus struggle through decades to arrive home when in my own life I've felt adrift trying to find myself "home" is a certain sense.
