OH now I see, yes truly what a coincidence indeed, the funny thing is I didn't even know that still was from the Naked Lunch film until I reverse image searched it after posting it, I swear! I've had it saved on my hard drive for years wondering what film it's from!

But yeah man, I can't even imagine reading that absolutely deranged, amoral headtrip at 14 (I still want to read it though lol). Damn son. My story is somewhat similar in that around 15 or 16 I fell in with this really charismatic guy with bipolar disorder who might've also been a sociopath or at least something like it. At the time I thought he was an incredible literary mind (sometimes I still do) because he could churn out poetry, funny little riffs and bits, turns of phrase, and concepts like a bonafide mad genius, and he exposed me to fascinating books, music, ideas, and art. I wrote my own material and read it at poetry readings because of him. I learned you could break all the rules of writing and reading and still make art. But ultimately he played life VERY fast and loose and showed himself to be a paranoid, dope-addicted (fentanyl, heroin, you name it) nihilist who would threaten his friends at will, use us, and play deranged head games with us. I remember thinking the same kind of thing as you, "interesting=good" because he kind of gave me the agency to be OK with that sort of thinking, and I just followed my palate wherever it took me, although I never went as far as he (or maybe you) did, I certainly went far enough. Either way man it's good you know now, and while I don't know what all you did, I think you'll find your way, by hook or by crook.

Random chance after billions of years of missing your chance, maybe?
