In a way, it started even earlier, as for over two years Pirateaba was making one drawing a day, no matter what, to hone their willpower. Their schedule is iron-clad, never missed, no matter whether they fill like like writing, are sick or have problems, they write. Nothing can stop them. As Pirate started writing TWI, it was normal at first, 3-5k words per chapter, but it started steadily growing as Pirate'd grown more sure of what they are doing and they found their 'voice'. The reallt big chapters started with volumes 4-5, Pirate no longer restrained themselves and confidently started writing exactly the way they wanted.

Don't be mistaken, it takes a lot out of them, Pirate talked a lot about being utterly exhausted and sometimes even writing out of muscle memory as words blurred in their eyes, but the chapter always arrives. And the funny thing is, Pirate always claims that if they chapter was bad, they would not publish and rewrite, but to date it has happened only once in V5, I think. Pirate even has exercises and a hand massager to help with the hand exhaustion from writing so much. Writing is Pirate's one thing to do in life, they plot and think about the story 24/7, their schedule is commited to writing, even if it's only around 25 hours of actual writing per week.
