I've recently taken to reading the collected works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Is it just me, or is his prose simplistic as fuck? Do you consider this an immediate detractor for an author?

Look. I have no problem if someone denounces bad books (bad as in within some arguable measure). But when you pile all books of a certain type like fiction into one category I wonder what it says about you.
