I know this is talked about a lot, but I just finished it and liked it quite a bit. Any general discussion is welcome.

I sort of slagged on it in the middle, after the first third of the book it sort of pulls away from the kid and focusses more on chronicling the Glanton Gang, and imo most of the development of the judge and Tobin and even the kid happen in the last third. So for a while I wasn't sure if it was going to live up to the hype for me, but around the time I started to recognize the gradual escalation of butchery of the gang it got a lot more compelling. Sometime around Jesus Maria. But anyways, the last third revealed so much about the characters that it made the rest of the entire book much more interesting. I'm going to read some Delillo next, but I do plan on rereading it because it feels like the kind of book you get more out of every time you read it. Anybody else have the same experience?

I'm in awe after finishing. Probably the greatest piece of writing I've ever laid eyes on. Just masterful from start to finish. It's going to be a while before I read something else.

What do you think of this analysis from reddit?

The Judge is the avatar of a paleoconservative entity called Death which would see all consciousness expunged, after being rendered completely irrelevant. All things reduced to a self-swallowing process, causes and effects dancing dumbly around the void, an ocean of blood and froth that circles a black hole like a drainspout, on and on until nothing is left but the entity’s reality — none other now possible —and its name, the last word, phonetically sounded in the last language that remains. SILENCE.
Being an avatar, an embodiment, the Judge is able to think and act strategically.
It’s probable he wants the Idiot to have some effect on other men. He intends to use him as a tool, a totem of animal regression. Therefore the leash. The Idiot is of course a person too, but that personhood is what the Judge wants to render utterly useless. Think from his perspective if you can: he can let the Idiot die, or pluck him from that stream of events. If the Idiot died in the river, men might sympathize with the Idiot, who was fascinated by his image in the water, an experience to which they can relate. That is not acceptable to the Judge, so he saves him. I am sure he can be destroyed later in a way that, this time, signifies nothing.

I started reading blood meridian but stopped like 80 pages in and i don't feel like picking it up again. It was just a edgy murderfest with a meme prose. Why do so many people like it?

So, what happened to The Kid/Man?

Was The Judge actually a supernatural being?

So what happened to the Kid? And how did Toadvine and David Brown end up being arrested and hanged? What happened to the Ex-Priest? So many things are left unexplained.
