Leave the debating to the priests, the ones actually trained in this stuff. Defending the faith as a layperson is what Protestants do.

You should look at the lives of the saints, because they all actually did apply the teachings of Christ to their lives. Think of St. Francis of Assisi, or St. Athanasius, or St. Teresa of Avila. Not every Christian is going to be a good Christian. Remember the parable of the wheat and the weeds. There will be good and bad in Christianity. But if you trust the Catholic/Orthodox Church, there have been people throughout history who really did live according to the teachings of Jesus, and you should look to them as role models.

Good work, Anon. You're going to feel great, being absolved of your sins is one of the greatest sensations in the world.

Insofar as that's ALL it is, then yes he was. Marx, and most other atheists, fail to grasp just HOW important religion is to many people, and how it can lead them to behave in ways that don't make sense from a purely materialist perspective. There are many people throughout history, like St. Francis of Assisi, whose actions throughout their lives don't properly align with Marx's understanding of human behavior.
