Is Ralph Ellison the only Black American male worth reading?

Anyone have other recommendations?

Been reading African lit lately.

A lot of racial subject matter, which makes sense, yet raises a question.

Do you feel like a writer's ethnicity puts pressure on his creative range?

For example, would it be suspect if there was a black writer who wrote primarily about white people? Or a white writer who wrote primarily about the Japanese? Would these individuals feel pressure to write about their own races instead?

what piece of literature from African American literature do believe is the greatest work ever written ?

My choice would be invisible man by Ralph Ellison.
