>girl in line in front of me in her late teens is reading a book
>ask her what it is
>she ignores me
>line moves forward
>she’s next but oblivious
>tell her you’re next
>she ignores
>tap her shoulder
>she gasps loudly
>tell her you’re next
>she looks embarrassed and says oh sorry in a hurried note and orders her coffee
>ask her again what she’s
>Call of the Wild
>strike up a conversation
>she ends up asking me to sit with her
>she talks my ear off about Grotius and Van Gogh and Kafka
>only real world thing she talks about is how much she loves gardening
>try to change the subject and talk politics or gaming but she is totally devoid of interest and just says things like uh huh and hmm and I guess so or yeah maybe so whenever I ask her about anything related to them
>eventually she had to go

Why is it girls who are into literature have such a low IQ or interest for everything outside of it? I think it’s great to have literature as a passion but it shouldn’t be your whole identity
