Redditor here. I agree with this sentiment.
Reddit is the discussion that happens in the classroom. 4chan is the discussion that happens between classes in the hallways.

What makes Reddit greater than 4chan? On Reddit you can downvote all the shit so it never gets seen. On 4chan, all the shit floats on the surface.

Worst of all, user aren't tied to usernames either so they have no reputation to uphold; no way of checking their contribution against their post history so that you can judge their intellect from the things they've posted.

There's a good reason why anytime 4chan is mentioned in the news, it's not because something good came from it.
