just read pic related and I think it was the last push i needed to finally kill myself, amazing stuff, broke my heart.

what are some other classics that are worth their salt? i haven't read much shakespeare or moby dick.

I read Flowers for Algernon about ten years ago. Whilst I didn't cry (because I'm not a fucking bitch) I can easily say it is the single saddest thing I have every read, and even a decade later I still think back on it and have a fairly strong emotional response. Personally, for that alone, I consider it a masterpiece.

What's the saddest thing you have ever read, /lit/?
