I have a knee-jerk reaction to it not because I'm materialistic, but because its premise is inherently egoistic and suggestive of dualism. It posits some kind of metaphysical self, distinct from the combined totality of everything, that somehow supposedly exists beyond the disjunction, decomposition, of the human body to experience reality through the frame of that same biological composite that no longer exists as it is defined.

Yesterday's thread was interesting so I propose a new one.
What are the most practical books you've read on escaping the cycle?
Valis mentions that information on breaking out of the "black iron prison" is transmitted directly from outside but that doesn't help. Most gnostic scripture talks about the metaphysics of the prison (like the Gospel of Thomas, Hypostasis of the Archons, Gospel of Truth) but there are no real practical instructions, except maybe in the Bruce Codex which I'm going to start reading soon.
I haven't read Robert Monroe's books but supposedly they talk about this too, has anyone here read them?
Anyway, this is a thread for discussing books that pertain to this specific subject matter.
