What is the best High Fantasy series and why is it A Song of Ice & Fire?

I understand this series to be fairly divisive here, but we can agree that it has some of the better female characters of epic fantasy, right?

I read this article a while back, it was satire / a joke. It was something along the lines of "two hardcore fans create show in order to deceive the author of their favorite series to reveal the ending to them", jokingly saying that Benioff and Weiss created GoT only to get GRRM to tell them the ending of asoiaf.

Has anybody else read this article and maybe has a link to it? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

So I'm reading Clash of Kings, the battle of King's Landing, where Stannis Baratheon is attacking. It looks like he's going to win when out of nowhere Lord Tywin Lannister attacks him
Did he not see this coming? It's kind of hard to not notice a giant Lannister host moving on your flank. So disappointing

Am i reading this right? A veteran of many battles doesn't notice an army flanking him?

I think the Targaryen's were pretty cool guys who didn't afraid of anything.

I think that the only one who should have been slain was Aerys the Mad because, granted, he was insane as fuck. Rhaegar didn't deserve his fate.

the "A Song of Ice and Fire" audiobooks are well read and tell a good story. They'll last you for days, too, due to the length of the books and the series itself.

If you haven't read it look forward to shit like in my picture.
