The series is fun to read, I'm not asking more. You're a faggot for ranting about this.

About literature: since reading stuff requires no skill whatsoever when you're over the age of 2-3, you can't apply the previous music analogy to it. In other words, there is no such thing as a virtousness standard regarding readers. Maybe you apply such a standard to a writer, but it's completely different. Would you be able to write something as big as A song of ice and fire? Would you be able to write anything at all that isn't utter and absolute shit that no one would like to read? I can't. You may hate GRRM, but you can't deny he has some skills since he gets many people to read his stuff. Do you have that same sort of skill? I don't think so. People call a book "better" because they enjoyed it more, that's all.

There you are: you showed four examples that used a different definition of "better", then you merged them together in order to grant yourself some kind of entitlement to arbitrary judgement. But that's stupid. People won't stop liking a book because you said so.

Is it me or is just /lit/ a bunch of pretentious hipster and angsty teenagers whose motto is basically "MY OPINION IS BETTER THAN YOURS"? I see it all the time when people who like fantasy or science-fiction or even any kind of genre fiction are mocked without any reason, when those people aggresively with butthurt anger, when any Ayn Rand related discussion is banned from this board, when people spend hours to argue about how their allegedly edgy tastes make them superior and how wise they are to despise people who will think otherwise. The same goes with any debate about philosophy, religion, spirituality or stuff like that. You all fucking disagree on fucking anything. I come to your place, read the debates, see everyone adopting a stance and never change, sometimes about ridiculous subjects such as personal tastes. When the debate ends nobody has learnt anything and I don't know who to agree with because everyone spouted the same self-righteous and proud butthurt rage.

/sci/ and /lit/ aren't that different: they're both full of insecure hipsters and trolls, but at least /sci/'s high schoolers aren't pretentious. And I have the scary feeling that some people on this board actually mean what they are posting. That's fucking creepy.

Pic related, this is the one picture that sums up this place.
