If you just look at what he became then maybe. But the character is a bit more nuanced. He didn't start as something "evil" but rather just curious and creative in the beginning. Every other divine entity just toed Eru's line, but he wanted to express his own ideas. The jealousy and rage that later came to completely define him started out as a desire to define himself separately from Eru and his plan. The first chapters, where they are making the world and Melkor keeps disrupting their designs and yet still ultimately improving things overall is a good example of his actual importance in the world, and why Eru probably made him in the first place. It's the exact same scenario (obviously) as Satan and the problem of evil in Christianity. God made everything and designed all according to a plan, yet scapegoats part of his own design into being the real "evil" rather than just acknowledging the fact that evil has its role in defining the world and amplifying what is good. Melkor is just like a gifted kid who sees his best efforts to impress his parents and teachers ignored or condemned in favour of his goody-two shoes siblings/classmates who are far less talented but do as they are told. Eventually that eager curiosity and creativity is directed into hatred and the desire to destroy and corrupt if they can't be loved and accepted for what they are.

If you actually read his first book you can see his justifications for his rules are actual garbage.
I enjoyed many of his lectures but actually reading that book made me lose a lot of respect for his perspective on things

Shut the fuck up, do any of you actually read? Every thread here is a fucking mess, hardly any books are ever directly discussed. And God forbid butterfly comes into a thread and completely derails it

>Inb4 be the change you want to see make some good threads
I do, they get hardly any replies cause I didn't use a picture of Marx to get attention from chapos and anti-Marx people. Fuck all of you

I was talking with a STEM graduate today about our chose careers (I'm a classical philosophy major) I poked fun at how his work market is over saturated. He then turned it around on me and asked "How can you apply the words of a man who lived over 2,000 years ago to today's modern society? Our lives have changed so drastically, there's no way a man from that period could even comprehend modern society so applying his teachings to our world is a pointless endeavour."

I was flabbergasted. I had no comeback. Here he was, a STEM graduate earning $70,000 a year straight out of college in a research laboratory that will help humanity, whilst I have been working nights at a bar and trying to apply for internships at museums.

What good are these philosophers? They're words cannot be applied to our society. I have waste my entire life studying these people for nothing more than a sick sense of intellectual superiority.

I type this out still in the post nut clarity of a relapse. I've been battling sexual impurity for years now and it's mainly been an inner struggle. I hate that i have an attachment to sexual sins. I have a yearning desire most of the time just to beat my dick. I really wish this wasn't the case, what do i do? what do i read?

We know such that all our delusions are founded on a greater reality; that a desert mirage not only shows two real things - a need to move forward and something that replenishes our needs. However, only the context is a delusion. No real falsehoods exist nor can they be accessed - for if they are accessed and interacted with, they are very, very real phenomena. Mechanically this would make us and them alchemical reagents- and our interaction a tertiary one.
Naturally, we tend to operate on a meta-level, layering ourselves the users of even these maps and models of how the interaction goes. Regardless, it stands true that truth is all everything. Likewise we operate hierarchically; not all interactions are deemed equally important, else we would be stunned by reality and die off as organisms. Not only that, but we deeply experience a hierarchical life; I must eat, I must sleep, I must think, I must free myself, I must enslave myself... All desires, all emotions, all knowledge, all structured behavioral patterns- all of it.

What exactly happens when anyone experiences what is known as 'God'? We know that this experience is real and reported throughout human history, and it happens even to this day.
We know that It is always the single most important event of an event sphere, of a lifetime, of any and all known experiences, past-present-future: it always trumps them. Always. No exceptions.
Therefore, God is the highest priority or hierarchy within the human domain imaginable or achievable. Whenever we act according to lesser hierarchies, we fail as ourselves, as human experiencers of life.
So then, if it is so that our human minds, inheritors of apes, rodents and fantasizers of monsters and mixture of tales; when we do experience God, our flaws likely make the same error as they do when we see anything, from mirages and delusions to 'accurate knowledge' - errors on errors. However, just as it is with all other delusions, the greater reality is one where all everything exists. The necessary elements for the delusion, therefore, are the One True God, just as the necessary elements for a psychosis, schizophrenia, PTSD or even a lie are real.
Surprisingly, humans are very good at avoiding this obligation to obey the true hierarchy, play-pretending, mocking, ignoring, self-deluding and all manner of defenses are put up against it.
Futile.

Any good books giving overview on fetishes? Theories on why/how they come about, their relation and distinction from seemingly non-fetish desires and so on?
