In screenwriting, there is a commonly-held principle: on average, one page equals 1 minute of screentime. This means when you're writing something for the screen, you take this into account. "Does this dialogue really need to be three and a half minutes long?"

The average reader reads at a rate of 225 wpm. The average Microsoft Word page of single-spaced prose is anywhere from 600-750 words.

This means each page will take the average reader roughly three minutes to read.

Think about that next time you write half a page of shitty scene description. "Does my description of this bush really need to be a minute and a half long?"

So we've all read/seen Waiting for Godot and agree it's a masterpiece.

But what about Endgame? I couldn't get into it for some reason--seemed forced.
