Why new sincerity instead of reverting back to good ol' regular sincerity?

I would argue that new sincerity acknowledges the postmodern thought of contextualization since to properly understand a postironic statement, you have to comprehend the situation in which the statement is being said. Additionally, new sincerity represents the complex beliefs of people because it recognizes that people are not wholly behind one idea but have a mixture of feelings and thoughts regarding the subject.

Why do people laugh when I tell them about DFW's ideas about sincerety saving people from the cynical irony of post-modernism? Are people that afraid of sincerety?

I did once, during a time when the insincerety of the world was already depressing me, and having authors like Barth and Pynchon laughing throwing their irony everywhere didn't make things a bit better.

And then I discovered DFW. He taught me a way out of this cynical irony. You can't live life live that way. Sincerety is the only way out. DFW literally saved my life and he can certainly help everyone here.
