Hey anons I'm a retard trying to be less of a retard, what are some great basic culture books? I'm talking like economy, politics, religion, history, philosophy, etc. Books that you would enforce the reading of.

>mfw I just realized that there is no necessary connection between the structure of thought and the structure of the world which renders 99.9% of abstract thought and political debate obsolete and irrelevant from the point of view of effecting change in the real world
are there any books that elaborate on this idea? to my mind it basically BTFOs the entire 2500 years of philosophy in the West. were there any philosophers with the similar idea?

What do you guys think of presocratics like the miletians, Heraclitus, and Parmenides? All of their takes on monism are somewhat interesting, as is the idea of the first principal. I was also wondering if anyone was learned on Parmenides and could explain his poem about the two different ways. Namely, what is the consequence of everything being “what-is” and the concept of “nothing” not existing?
