>start reading this book
>The lore isn't interesting at all, but the caravan thing story grapped me a bit and I liked it
>Suddenly the guy goes to university
>It's Harry Potter all over again

I am not saying that I am not liking it, but really, it reminds me quite a lot, It's like a clone.

I feel like all I ever read is fantasy novels. I just finished reading In the name of the wind and The wise man's fear, which were great books and had me clicking buttons on my phone all night long. But I really feel like I should read books from some other genres. Problem is I have no idea where to start, do you have any recommendations for some page turners /lit/?

Hey /lit/, what books have you read this month? I'll list mine and give a little note about what I thought about them. Pic related, it's the best of the bunch.

Darwin's Children - Not as good as Darwin's Radio. In fact, kind of a snooze fest.
Catching Fire - Pretty awful. Predictable, poorly written. An unworthy successor to The Hunger Games.
Halo Cryptum - (Yes I'm on a Greg Bear kick) Fucking awesome. A great piece of hard sci-fi, and I feel like it could stand on its own as a series.
After Dark - Pretty cool. This was my first Murakami novel. I liked it enough that I've picked up a few more, but I haven't started any of them yet.
Forge of God - Pretty depressing. Falls apart a bit at the end, but overall a good read. I especially liked the different strategies used by the destroyers and the seemingly realistic confusion it caused among the human population. The sentient spider bods were a little lame though.
The Name of the Wind - Oh my fucking god, this is the best fantasy novel I've ever read. I can't believe this was his debut. I didn't know what to expect from it, but Jesus shit it was amazing. If you haven't read this and you like fantasy, you need to.
Mockingjay - Better than Catching Fire, but still not as good as The Hunger Games. Felt pretty rushed and not exciting. I really hated how the author felt the need to spell out every single metaphor. I know it's YA fiction, but god damn.

That's it so far. I haven't started anything else as I wrapped up Mockingjay last night. What about you?

Hey Rothfuss, remember when remind the reader in every chapter that this book isn't the same old cliché fantasy story?

Well guess what you idiot, it fucking was cliché. Stop telling me it's original when it fucking isn't. (but i still loved it)

Thoughts on this? Looking forward to the next instalment?

I loved reading this, just wished I would have taken my time with it because The Wise Man's Fear isn't out until March 2011 or something ridiculous.

This is the first book I've read in a long while that I was genuinely hooked on.

Hey /lit/ just wondering, what is your take on this book? The last book i've read that wasn't software development related was Harry Potter and i know it's a rather childish book but i enjoyed it none the less. Would the book at hand be suitable for a young adult? I am open to suggestions.
