I pulled on a hat,
Because a blizzard was in my head.
I glanced out the window,
But still felt only dread.

When the blinds had become useless,
I uncapped a vial of germs.
And when they had overcome me,
I observed the clock’s sojourn.

During time’s standstill,
I’d become feverish with glee.
I opened wide my chest and pantry,
And even offered her some tea.

An establishment within moments,
She often hindered my breath.
My bed had gotten smaller,
So I hoped it remain until my death.

Fickle were these germs, I noted,
But the clock showed nothing ensuing.
My skin itched wherever not infected,
Writhing when this I’d foresee as my very undoing.

I mustn’t have been a good host,
For I was now feeling healthy.
She borrowed life from me no longer,
Leading me to believe: in health, happiness is stealthy.
