For once, I’ll tell the story

>I started modeling in NYC at 14. My mom took me after school to the studio, 39 Spring St, there were some kids skating in the park across the street & graffiti sprawled across the door. I was so nervous walking in, through the hallway to the barely lit massive studio... there standing in the light was the photographer, Kevin Hatt & his wife Simone, - I was suspended in time, frozen in awe by the immense "cool" emitting from them -We chatted for a moment, looked at my portfolio, & asked to take a few photos. Sensing my tension asked my favorite music, I replied "Nirvana, Sonic Youth, and Beastie Boys.” Simone mentioned the Beastie Boys lived across the street & put “Check Your Head” on As the melody started to fill the air, my body began to relax into the beat, Kevin said to me "Now have fun— BE YOU!” This moment lead not only to countless years of creating some of the coolest and most iconic moments in 90s fashion with Delias Catalog but also to the most cherished friendships and memories of my life.
