Take notes while reading, maybe. When its time for you to discuss the book with other people reading a quick summary to refresh your memory could be helpful as well. Hell, you could just skim through the entire book quickly if it's not terribly long.

I'm not the most well-versed in Christian theology so I had not considered the idea that God would respect all of his creations' free will even if it turns against him and that embracing God is meaningless without the free will to do so. That provides much needed context to the Christian faith.
