Hey /lit/, for those of you familiar with memetics, would periods/styles of art throughout history (e.g. impressionism, cubism) be considered examples of memes, or would the individual artworks be the memes, and the periods/styles another term entirely? (Or is this whole idea off-base)

I'm aware that this sort of question is likely to generate a tonne of shitposting, so to balance it out, /art-general/
