I find it ironic that it was a Metroid discord.
If anyone will recall, Samus was the target of early attempts to make characters trans. Fueled by the game's "reveals" if you beat the game in a certain time, you find out your hardcore space warrior is actually a woman. And probably later fueled by all of the lore about how she's some DNA soup and her suit isn't so much a robotic suit as it is a manifestation of willpower to create a barrier between herself and the world around her, which is why the whole thing explodes off her body when she dies because the outside damage was too much for her to maintain.
