Ok, so I've found myself writing a novel and... I'm on page twenty and it consists mostly of my improvisation. I can't effectively think about a story and then execute it on paper. I can only be creative when I struggle to move forward while writing. Of course I usually have some vague idea of what I want to achieve artistically but never narratively. How can I improve this process and try to think in a more structural way?

I checked out the complete short stories of Franz Kafka from my local library. Are there any that anons here would recommend starting with, any highlights? or should I just read all of them in order.

>During his lifetime, Franz Kafka burned an estimated 90 percent of his work. After his death at age 41, in 1924, a letter was discovered in his desk in Prague, addressed to his friend Max Brod. “Dearest Max,” it began. “My last request: Everything I leave behind me . . . in the way of diaries, manuscripts, letters (my own and others’), sketches and so on, to be burned unread.”
what was his problem?

Kafka, i don't like his books that much but his biography and the letter to his father were relatable.
Sylvia Plath too but less

What makes something specifically 'Kafkaesque'? Are there other authors who manage to capture the essence of it?
